INSTALLATION
Tips

Installing a dog door can seem intimidating at first, but it can be a breeze with the right steps. Here are our 4 easy steps to a smooth installation:

Measure your pet

Ensure your four-legged friend has the right fit—measure accurately to get a pet door that’ll accommodate their precise size. Failing to do so could make getting in and out uncomfortable or even impossible!

Choose a suitable location

Pick an area where you won’t have to worry about cold drafts or extreme temperatures that could affect your pet’s comfort. Also, consider mounting the door at least 15 centimetres off the ground so it’s easily accessible without difficulty (this is dependent on the size of your dog).
Prepare and install
All parts should be included in your kit, so ensure everything is there before starting! Measure twice and cut once when fitting the actual frame into place, then add any necessary insulation and weatherstripping around each side of the opening according to instructions. Lastly, attach the lockable security panel if desired.

Check and enjoy!

Test out your newly installed door by using a precautionary hand scan before allowing your pet access to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely. And that’s it – you’ve got a convenient way for your furry friend to get those much-needed outdoor walks or play sessions!

DO DOG DOORS
Require Training?

Training your dog to use a doggy door is easy if you take it one step at a time. Start by introducing your pup to the idea of a doorway and help prepare them with treats or rewards when they go near it. Once they understand, start letting them explore their newfound freedom and gradually work up their trust in the door until they’re comfortable using it without hesitation.

Plan a few constructive play sessions with your pup around the door area as well. Be sure to keep rewarding them each time they enter or exit from it too! If your dog doesn’t seem keen on going through the doorway, don’t try forcing them — instead, take time away from training and spend quality playtime together before returning to teaching them again.
Finally, be patient — every pup learns at their own pace, so don’t expect them to master using a doggy door right away!
